Enedis targets 20,000 km of new grid per year by 2030
Unveiled on 24 April 2026, the Industrial and Human Project 2030 accompanies a rise in electricity's share of final energy consumption from 27% to 34%.
On 24 April 2026, Enedis unveiled its Industrial and Human Project 2030, entitled "Agir en grand", designed to support what the company calls the Great Electrification of France.
The framework is set out in figures: electricity's share of final energy consumption is to rise from 27% today to 34% in 2030. By that date, two out of three new vehicles will be electric, one million additional heat pumps will have been installed and renewable capacity will have doubled.
This shift places the public distribution grid at the heart of the country's electricity sovereignty. Under greater strain, more decentralised and more exposed to climate hazards, it must guarantee quality electricity everywhere across the country, including in exceptional situations.
The project is organised around three priorities: a well-balanced and robust grid, a simple and seamless customer experience, and regional development.
Since 2020, Enedis has been engaged in a modernisation programme: by 2030, 20,000 km of new grid will be built each year, twice the 2020 rate, and more than 15,000 km refurbished annually, an increase of 50%.
The company points out that it carried out 584,000 connections and activations last year, i.e. one every 54 seconds, a pace set to continue.
