€4 billion for a data centre on the former Montereau-Vallée-de-la-Seine power plant site

Announced on 17 November 2025, OpCore's project covers several hundred megawatts in Seine-et-Marne.

On 17 November 2025, EDF and OpCore, a joint venture bringing together the iliad Group and funds managed by InfraVia Capital Partners, announced the opening of exclusive negotiations with a view to developing a data centre of several hundred megawatts on the site of the former Montereau-Vallée-de-la-Seine thermal power plant, in Seine-et-Marne.

For OpCore, the project represents an investment of around €4 billion.

It falls within the call for expressions of interest launched by EDF on 3 March 2025 to encourage the establishment of very high capacity data centres on sites from its land portfolio, specifically prepared to host such infrastructure.

As the country's third-largest industrial landowner, EDF offers land and support for accelerated grid connection, which makes it possible to optimise delivery timescales.

Connection lead time has indeed become the limiting factor for these projects: in a context where more than 200 industrial projects are awaiting connection to the transmission grid, having a site that is already equipped is a decisive advantage.
