Exaion: a new step for EDF's high-performance computing subsidiary

Announced on 20 February 2026, the transaction brings Mara and NJJ into the capital, with EDF remaining a shareholder and customer.

On 20 February 2026, EDF Pulse Ventures announced the completion of the transaction enabling Mara France to acquire a 64% stake in Exaion, following the lifting of the conditions precedent.

The EDF group remains a shareholder and customer of the company. As part of the transaction, NJJ Capital took a 10% minority stake in Mara France.

Exaion's board of directors will comprise three representatives appointed by Mara Inc, three by EDF Pulse Ventures, one by NJJ, as well as the company's chief executive and co-founder. Xavier Niel and Fred Thiel, CEO of Mara Inc, will sit on it.

Exaion develops and operates high-performance computing data centres and provides secure cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The positioning of this subsidiary illustrates the convergence between decarbonised electricity generation and digital infrastructure: the availability of low-carbon electricity has become a commercial argument for intensive computing operators.
