Download your awareness poster: compressed air is not free
ShiftElec is launching an awareness campaign aimed at QHSE and energy managers at industrial sites. First poster: compressed air.
Compressed air is the most expensive energy in the workshop. It is used everywhere: blow guns, cylinders, pneumatic tools, extraction. Because it cannot be seen, its losses cannot be seen either. On the shop floor, it is often still perceived as a free resource.
20 to 30% of the energy in a compressed air network is lost through leaks. According to Festo, reducing leaks by 100 L/min saves around €1,000 per year.
These losses are not only a maintenance issue. They also depend on everyday habits at every workstation. That is the purpose of this poster: to make the issue visible where the air is used.
The poster, in A3 format and ready to print, recalls these two figures and sets out 5 steps to take action:
01 — Find and fix leaks. A hiss is money escaping: report it.
02 — Set the pressure to what is actually needed. Every extra bar shows up on the bill.
03 — Understand the settings and adjust them effectively. Ask maintenance for your workstation's set point.
04 — Shut off the air to idle equipment. A valve closed at the end of the shift means zero leaks overnight.
05 — Switch off unused equipment. Compressors, blow guns, extraction: nothing runs for nothing.
Put it up near workstations, next to the compressors or in the break room. It can also support a safety or energy toolbox talk: one figure, one step, one discussion with the team. Each manager can then choose one step per week and track how it is put into practice.
A customised version with your plant's logo is available on request at contact@shiftelec.com.
This campaign extends ShiftElec's mission onto the shop floor: measuring, optimising and monetising industrial electricity.
