€2.7 billion of industrial procurement: Enedis secures its supply of grid equipment
Announced on 17 March 2026, four contracts awarded to 24 suppliers cover medium-voltage cables, transformers and digital systems over five to eight years.
On 17 March 2026, Enedis announced the award of four medium- and long-term contracts to 24 electrical equipment suppliers, representing close to €2.7 billion of investment over the next five years.
The aim is to secure supplies in support of the modernisation and resilience of the public distribution grid. Close to 90% of electrical equipment is manufactured in the European Union, including 67% in France.
With a record level of industrial procurement spending — equipment and works — of €4.5 billion in 2025, up more than 35% since 2022, Enedis plays a major role in sustaining the industrial sector.
The four contracts cover medium-voltage cables, with around 13,500 km per year over 4 to 7 years; HV/MV power transformers, with around 165 units per year over 5 to 8 years, in support of the Ambition Postes Sources 2040 programme; digital protection and control systems, with around 120 systems per year; and medium-voltage switchgear, with around 10,000 units.
The tenders incorporate strong environmental requirements, committing suppliers on carbon footprint reduction, circularity and SF6-free equipment, positioning Enedis among the pioneering grid operators in Europe.
