25 new commons selected in support of the ecological transition

Announced on 10 March 2026, these projects were selected from more than 100 applications.

On 10 March 2026, ADEME announced the selection of 25 new commons under the third edition of its call for commons "Mobilising the commons in support of the ecological transition".

Launched in 2025 with the support of the Fondation Macif and in partnership with France Tiers Lieux and IGN, this scheme aims to develop and pool open resources — the commons — that contribute to the challenges of the ecological transition.

The logic is one of pooling: collectively developing an open resource costs less and moves faster than each player building it in isolation. These commons take the form of databases, methodologies, software or technical frameworks that can be freely reused.

Out of more than 100 applications received across two submission rounds, 25 commons were selected to receive technical and financial support in 2026, representing a total of €1.4 million of aid requested from ADEME and €190,000 from the Fondation Macif.

They are spread across four thematic challenges, including food and forests, with projects such as Open Food Facts.
