Offshore wind: the FARÉMER fund finances local projects in Nouvelle-Aquitaine

On 21 July 2026, RTE set out how FARÉMER works, its support fund for offshore project delivery, mobilised under the public service contract signed with the State.
The purpose of this fund is to contribute to the sustainable development of the areas and marine environments affected by offshore grid infrastructure projects, in coordination with the other schemes led by the State or its public bodies.
It makes it possible to co-finance collective projects of general interest: better management of environmental issues, improved knowledge of the marine environment, enhancement and restoration of heritage and the coastline, support for a sustainable tourism economy, safety at sea and support for local authorities in their energy transition.
The total amount of FARÉMER for the Golfe de Gascogne project stands at €750,000. Under the authority of the prefect of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, a management committee assesses applications and the conditions for granting aid.
Two committees were held in January and July 2026. At the first, five projects were presented and three approved unanimously, including the development and enhancement of wetlands around the Ilette and Langouarde marshes by the municipality of Le Porge, in Gironde, to the tune of €125,000.
