Exeltium and EDF: up to 30 TWh more for electro-intensive industrial firms
Announced on 14 January 2026, the agreement extends the partnership until 30 April 2034.
On 14 January 2026, at the New Year reception of the Union of Energy-Using Industries (Uniden), EDF and Exeltium announced the conclusion of an agreement covering the delivery of close to 30 TWh of additional electricity, under the existing partnership contract, until 30 April 2034.
Exeltium is a consortium of electro-intensive industrial firms β chemicals, metallurgy, paper and industrial gases β formed to pool their long-term electricity purchases. These volumes will be delivered by Exeltium to its shareholder customers.
In return for the payment of an upfront advance, the consortium will be able to access a maximum volume of 30 TWh of additional electricity.
The agreement aims to offer competitive, low-carbon supply at a predictable price, to give the visibility needed to maintain industrial activities and investment projects β development, decarbonisation, electrification of processes β and to secure EDF's revenues for its investments.
For electro-intensive sites, electricity accounts for such a share of production costs that multi-year visibility on its price directly determines decisions to maintain or expand activity in France.
