Power grids: a sector of 1,600 companies and 100,000 jobs takes shape
On 17 April 2026, FIERE welcomed two new members and stressed that without modernised grids there will be no energy transition and no reindustrialisation.
With the Government having announced the first measures of its electrification plan on 10 April 2026, the industrial federation of power grid companies (FIERE) restated an underlying reality on 17 April: without robust, modernised power grids there will be no energy transition, no reindustrialisation and no security of supply for local areas.
Meeting for its second board meeting and its first general assembly, FIERE announced the arrival of two new professional organisations, FNTP and Syntec Ingénierie, as associate members.
The sector now brings together 17 members: five founders — Enedis, RTE, GIMELEC, SYCABEL and SERCE — and twelve associates, among them FNCCR, EDF SEI, Strasbourg Électricité Réseaux, Geredis, GreenAlp, Réséda and SRD.
In total, the power grid sector represents 1,600 companies and close to 100,000 jobs in France, with a strong local presence and a positive contribution to the trade balance.
Grid operators, manufacturers and contracting firms say they are mobilised to support the growth in energy uses, integrate renewable energy on a large scale and guarantee the resilience of the power system.
